ANIMAL OR VEGETABLE?

I took Daughter #2, who's recuperating nicely after her recent heart attack, for some healthy exercise beside Langstone Harbour. Quite a few of the brambles had these webs on them, and they seem to be the cocoons of the Brown-tail Moth, which is not a very good creature to get too near to, apparently.
