Birds are back
It has been a while since the yard has seen so many birds even though I kept the feed out all summer. This little guy was singing for me but I could not get outside to hear it as it would have scared him away. The doves, the cardinals, wrens, chickadees and the hummingbirds seem to be either moving back from the north or coming out of the woods.
Maybe a sign that fall IS going to come to the South. At least we had a much cooler morning today and not quite so hot!
Our state is still reeling from Hurricane Florence, one town close to the North Carolina border is still under water a week after Florence came. The rivers are cresting from flow from the western part of North Carolina. A portion of a town was supposed to evacuate this morning as the river there will crest late today or tomorrow. There are dead fish all along the highways and as AsburyDan said in his post, they are flowing down to the ocean and ending up on the beach. Portions of a main interstate highway is still closed due to flooding. So terribly sad.
