Dressing like an Onion

It's been several times I've tried to explain to my host family that I'm wearing many layers and I don't feel cold. But I can never seem to exactly say, "I'm wearing many layers." I always end up saying, "I'm wearing many jackets," which is partially true. On really cold days I wear six layers - an undershirt, a t-shirt, a collared shirt, then a sweater or light jacket, then a hoodie, and finally my coat. That's a lot of layers to be wearing, but it gets the job done (most of the time).

So I just looked up how to say I wear layers, I dress in layers, etc. and it is "s'habiller comme un ognion" or rather "to dress like an onion." Such a clever phrase. Now I have to commit it to memory so that the next time, I can express my idea of dressing in layers to my host family.

This morning I went grocery shopping at Auchan. I bought way too much food and liquids and I spent way too much money. Let's just say, this grocery run was most expensive to date. I had made a list of things to buy, which I stuck too, but because there were so many selections I just started to pick things up. So everything added up and I was surprised at the register.

Because I had bought too much food and liquids (2 - 1.5L Evian water (.54 centimes ea.!), 2 - 1L Milk, 1L Horchata, 1 large glass bottle of delicious Pineapple juice), I had the worst time lugging everything back home. The one kilometer walk home from the tram station, I can walk in about 10 mins. But carrying everything with me, I walked like a turtle and it may have taken me up to 15 mins.

This afternoon after class, I decided to cook everything I bought so that I could just eat all my cooked meals easily for this week. As a quick summary, I made my salmon, marinated my pork chops, cooked my eggplant, made rice, and concocted a banana filling for some crepes. In general, everything smelled good so I'm hoping everything will tasted good too. Now I don't have to worry about what to eat all week. :)
