Lazy Afternoon
Resting mid-afternoon in the grass chewing the cud, with his coat vibrantly catching the sun this fallow deer paid me no attention. A pleasure to see.
Introduced by the Normans into our forests here they can be easily recognised by the white spots which they lose in winter. This buck would have lost his velvet in August leaving the antlers clean and hard for the rut which is great to witness in the autumn. No argy bargy going on here tho'.
