Hmm.

I have just acquired the EF-M 28mm macro to complete the lens line up for my mirrorless and this is my first go with it.  This is on the 'super macro' setting where focusing seems to rely on moving the camera back and forth. The lens was touching the dandelion clock for this.  I cropped the right hand side in and darkened the background using curves but I have really adjusted the clock itself.

Like all new kit, it will take a bit of getting used to. Reviews suggest that the 'wide end' of the focus range is very good for general walk around stuff, but you do need to get very close to your subject for anything vaguely 'macro'.  I do like the built in lights on the end though which offer an alternative to using the flash...  Somehow, I suspect I will stick to the 70d/100mm combo for photographing bees but that's will probably have to wait for next year before I can experiment.
