Room and a view !

Back to work today, more preparation for our Open Day next Wednesday. Our aim is to introduce people to the comfort and homeliness of a Residential Care Home for the Elderly. The general public - through no fault of their own - view care homes generally as a Bad Thing ! The last resort rather than a positive choice. An institution rather than a home. A place where our elders sit in bored (and often confused) silence staring at a blank wall or some puerile tv show.
Not at our Home ! Activities reverberate through the home encouraging folk to participate in a variety of interests from cooking to painting to gardening. We are hoping that people will visit and see what life is like in a Good Care Home ! I've been titivating the rooms, feeling a little like Lawrence Llewelyn Bowen as I add a cushion here and a lamp there. This is what it's all about Care Quality Commission - thinking about people's quality of life not the blessed paperwork !!!
