The day of the marmots

Yesss...I was so hoping I'd see them today on my last Pyrenean hike and I did. Not just one or two but loads in several marmot colonies including a high altitude (2400m) bunch. I spent ages watching them - including one perched on top of a rock screeching on lookout duty before he scampered down into his burrow.

This is an occasion when I could wish for more than a phone camera. The bright green valley area is one place they live.
