Hawking the Heath
Mr PB decoded to take himself off to the races at Newmarket today, so I had the day to myself. I went for a wander across the heath and almost immediately saw this Migrant Hawker settling obligingly on a gorse bush. There are huge numbers of Darters around, but I was pleased to see something different. Once into the woodland, I saw lots of Fly Agaric and there were a fair number of butterflies about - a single Red Admiral, and Comma, a few Speckled Woods and Small Coppers, and lots of Small Heaths. the only birds I saw were a Jay and another Kestrel. Sadly no mammals today.
