Light-mantled Sooty Albatross
One of the highlights of our few days on the ship was watching Light-mantled Sooty Albatross from the top deck. They started flying really close to us, so that they were distinct from the similarly dark Giant Petrels and White-chinned Petrels. Distinct by their size and those big eyes staring at you.
These birds have a beautiful synchronised courtship flight that we were lucky to see snatches of as they circled around us.
