Wild weather!
After a leisurely start we headed north, up to Northmavine and Esha Ness. Incredibly wild and terrific scenery, especially on a wet and windy day!
Spent ages in the museum near Brae Wick, a real gem with masses of interesting things to see, including all about the Gunnister man, a body found in the peat, from around 1700. To see all his clothes was fascinating. Then to Hillswick and looked out at the Drongs, huge rocks out at sea. So much to come back and explore more fully with Mike at a better time of the year weather wise!
To Ollaberry in the afternoon, where the local knitters and spinners had put on a wonderful exhibition and were there, working away, happy to chat - and laugh! As well as older folk, there were some of the Peerie Makkers, children from primary school age, and their beautifully knitted garments. Quite amazingly, and wonderful to think that the future of knitting in Shetland looks so secure. A super visit, and afternoon tea too, a huge spread! Photos in extras.
Back to L's where we spent a lovely relaxed evening in front of a pest fire, with her and the cats. A really super day.
