Some Days

Still Waters...

...do not a summer make.

The pond in the woodland garden at Archerfield, East Lothian.

Wider still and wider.

These still waters certainly don't run deep, the bottom has steadily risen over the past few years as silt and sand have been washed down from groundworks half a mile upstream.

Still pretty on a still day, though.

To be strictly accurate the pond is a lake, being fed and drained by a stream. The irrigation lake out on the golf course, is actually a pond fed by rain and groundwater!
