An old soldier at the Grand Canyon

We were at the Grand Canyon for our 35th wedding anniversary.  Wonderful time and on our walk around we found this repainted Alco PA - actually a freight FPA.  Always liked the lines of this loco.  Almost art-deco to me.

The extras are of the original station the Santa Fe build at the GC to receive arriving rail passengers on their railroad.  Must have been quite the thrill to travel across the country by rail from Chicago and then get off here, walk up the hill, and see the Grand Canyon and the El Tofar hotel.  The hotel is still there as well as was very nice.  Meals were very good as well.  Hotel totally remodeled.

The Grand Canyon National Park will be 100 years old next year.  Hopefully it will be still there many years hence.
