Washington National Cathedral
We walked to the Cathedral today - a long stroll up Wisconsin Avenue. The weather was lovely so it was an enjoyable wander. This building was started in 1907 - President Roosevelt being present; it was finally finished in 1990 when George H W Bush was president.
An earthquake in 2011 damaged the structure and works are ongoing to repair the Cathedral whose spires are still supported by scaffolding.
It is a beautiful place with gorgeous modern stained glass windows and is one of the tallest buildings in the city. There are stunning gardens outside giving a peaceful place to reflect - and I saw my first humming bird there today!
