The lost City of England
In the 11th century Dunwich was the 10th largest city in England, this was cut short by the power of the sea with 2 large storms and today most of town is beneath the waves.
Only an old priory (Greyfriars) and a solitary gravestone remain.
The left hand image is of the original church which was moved to today’s church yard . The gravestone stood in its grounds, it is very close to the cliffs edge and all the other gravestones have fell in the sea
