Farmers Market Day.
I love our little farmers’ market tucked away on a side street downtown. Ann and I made it just before the close but there were plenty of people, produce, and entertainers filling the area. Built by the city about 15 years ago, it consists of three rows of covered stalls and a very large, mostly glass building surrounded on all sides by opening doors. This arrangement is very convenient one because rain is frequent in spring and fall. This time of the year there’s produce of every kind, many craft stalls, fish meat and baked goods galore, as well as exotic hot and cold foods ready to eat. Today when we arrived there were three ukulele performers strolling venue. The atmosphere is very festive, and enjoyed by young and old alike. The mostly organic produce is a far cry from when I was young. It is colorful and beautiful and almost blemish free as opposed to the sometimes ugly fare that I remember. We left munching on some soft German pretzel sticks that we got for half price because it was near closing time. Yum!
