Walking the dogs

No blip yesterday as I didn't take any photos. I went down to London by train for Fr John's last mass. Fr John is the priest who I met when I lived in South Bermondsy and my friend Jacquie has been his right hand person for 30 years. He has at last decided to retire at the age of 81. I set off from Chris's at 11.30 am. I was staying at Vera's and going to the church in Bexleyheath with her and Loraine. I arrived at Bermondsey station, rang Vera and she told me they were stuck in traffic , so I went for a coffee. Whilst I waited I sorted out another way to get to the church. Vera arrived at 2.45 and said there had been an accident and couldn't guarantee getting to the mass. I said I would get the train as I wanted to make it. We had a coffee and catch up then I caught the underground to London Bridge then queued for a ticket to Bexleyheath. I had to get the train to Dartford then a replacement bus to Bexleyheath. All went ok but it took forever and knew I couldn't do the return trip and get the last train back. I got the bus driver to let me off quite near the church instead of having to walk all the way from the station. I arrived at church 5.30pm. I sat near 2 lovely ladies and got chatting to them, Norah and Maria. I hoped Vera and Loraine would make it but they didn't.
What a great celebration mass, the choir was amazing and it was absolutely packed. It started at 6.30 and finished at 8.15. My train to get back to Chris's from St Pancras was 10 pm or 10.20 the absolute last one. I new I hadn't time to walk to Bexleyheath Station so I rang for a taxi to take me to New Eltham where I could get a direct train. I made it in time for the 9.10 train to London Bridge then i ran to the underground. I got to St Pancras 9.45 just time to pick up a sandwich from Smiths then ran to the train. I found a seat and relaxed with 5 minutes to spare. A 10 minute walk to my car when I got off the train then back to Chris's arriving at 11.45 pm!!!! I was absolutely shattered. Tea, toast and a couple of brandy's found me relaxing. I slept really well although I woke up with awful cramp in both feet! What a day but so glad I made the mass as Father John made the effort to come up from London to officiate at my wedding and Simons funeral.
A lovely quiet day today to make up for yesterday and a nice walk with Chris, Blue and Clover by the canal. Another lovely autumn colour shot in the extra.
