Sunday: Convenience Store

K. and I went to a memorial today for Norm, Ed's husband.  At the end of August, he was taken ill with what seemed to be flu, but turned out to be a virus that attacked his heart.  He died a few days after being admitted to hospital.

The memorial was held at 'Les Amis Du Fromage' a downtown cheese shop where Norm worked for many years.  Strangely enough, there were lots of references to his love of cheese.  We knew him a bit - together with our friends, Heather and Joanne, we'd got together with Ed and Norm a few times - he was very shy but very lovely.

I think what struck everyone today was how suddenly these things can happen.
