Let Us Prey
Clearing out the flower border along the front of the house today because we have had a leak into the garage when the rain has been particularly heavy. We have established that our ancient farmhouse has no foundations to speak of (no surprises there, as the metre thick walls have been there for a couple of hundred years and not fallen down yet). However, at the point the walls hit the stone slabs put down to provide a base for building, we have got holes and cracks disappearing under the house. The drain pipe from the roof also had a tennis ball at it’s exit, diverting the water back to the wall, where the biggest crack was sited, plus there was a missing part of the water waste channel. All combined to get my feet wet in the garage. Problem identified, now to plug holes, cement fixings and provide some form of water course and protection for the wall. As this was going on, I disturbed the Praying Mantis who lived in the bush we had to remove. It hung around long enough for a pic, then must have been hungry, as it wandered off. Bon Appetit little chap.
