When Fergus went to Dun Deardail
We went walking in Glen Nevis. From the visitor centre car park we walked the route up to the vitrified iron-age hillfort of Dun Deardail whose outline can still be seen as grassy embankments.
The Walk highlands site has the walk at 6.25 miles, with an ascent of 314 metres (1030 ft).
We had a picnic lunch at the fort and then walked back down. The main part of the route is shared with the West Highland Way and there are always Way walkers on their last leg of their 92 miles. Most are remarkably happy and cheery.
Fergus did a lot of sleeping in the evening.
