St Bernard's Well
As seen from Dean Gardens, across the Water of Leith, to which we had a rare access during Doors Open Day. Although the gardens do not have flower borders they have a pleasant walk by the water and a view of the weir when passed below the Dean Bridge.
Our last visit was to St Albert's Chapel (extra 1) owned by the Dominican Friars who run the Catholic Chaplaincy. This is a modern building (2012) whose design reflects the trees and wildlife beyond the windows.
I was admiring the detail of the sculpture (extra 2) in a poorly lit alcove and was informed that it comes from a larger set piece, was carved in South-Eastern Germany and dates from the 1500's.
