The Old Forge (Tuesday 2nd October 2018)
I've been to Devizes and back this morning and to Melksham and Chippenham this afternoon but without any opportunities for pictures. I didn't think I had taken any until just now when I remembered I'd taken a picture of the empty paint tin on my iPad before setting out so I'd be sure of buying the same thing again.
It worked.

The Beatles - Being For The Benefit Of Mr. Kite! (recorded 17-20 February 1967; overdubs 28-31 March 1967, Abbey Road)
R.I.P. Geoff Emerick (5 December 1945 – 2 October 2018)
Geoff Emerick had a wide and varied career as a recording engineer including several years at EMI, but is probably best remembered for his work with the Beatles during their experimental period. According to Wikipedia, "In 1967, Emerick engineered Being For The Benefit Of Mr Kite!, one of the most musically complex songs on Sgt. Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band. Lennon told George Martin he wanted to re-create the "carnival atmosphere" of the Pablo Fanque circus poster that inspired the song. For the middle eight bars, Emerick spliced together multiple recordings of fairground organs and calliope in an attempt to create the effect; after a great deal of unsuccessful experimentation, George Martin instructed Emerick to chop the tape into pieces with scissors, throw them up in the air, and re-assemble them at random."
