Hiding pipes and dull bits like plumbing might seem a good idea at the time, but when things go wrong that should never have gone wrong, a way of fixing them is needed. And that might mean accessing them.

Today has not been the greatest of days but there is much to be thankful for on this funny sort of Thanksgiving Day. I would like to be thankful for ...

* The sweet temporary replacement car while my car was in the shop ... a limited edition London 2012 Olympic themed Mini.
* Being able to pay for the repairs to my own car even if it meant using the magic of Visa
* Not having left the house without realising that the shower o-ring had failed, and that water was flooding through the cavity wall. Well spotted Josh!
*Having plenty of buckets to catch dripping water
* Having two boys who insisted on staying home with me until the immediate crisis was over and the water supply had been shut off
*Having a helpful local builder and plumber
* Not having rising water in the house from the incessant rain
* Not having to drive to Aylesbury and back tonight for a football match
* Working electrics
* Running water .. only when needed
* A hot meal
* Family
