The Loon

Look what I spotted at the bottom of the road this morning, a Great Northern Diver I think just arrived from it's breeding ground in the North for the winter here. Great to see this bird so close up, it has the most amazing call when you hear it out on the hill lochs. Breeds in Iceland and winters over here, this bird is in winter plumage I think.

Not a common bird this is a schedule 1 species protected under the wildlife and countryside act.

Busy day dealing with more work disasters followed by parents night then straight to camera club with KK in tow.
