Young Entrepreneurs......

.....well actually there were 56 of them!!!

Entrepreneur Me - P6 Challenge

Now let me start by saying that when I was asked to help out I wasn't sure but it was brilliant and all the P6 kids enjoyed it too.

The theme of the session was St Andrew's Day and everything Scottish. The idea of the session was to develop and practise communication, teamwork and negotiation skills as these are the foundations to developing their enterprise skills.
The kids were split into 7 groups of 8. All of the session was based on group work, role plays and exercises to encourage participation. Each group were to make the following:
1. a card, with a 4 line poem inside.
2. a postcard
3. a bookmark
4. a gift box
5. a castle
6. a table decoration
The kids were given £25.00 to start with. Each member of the team was given a role (a managing director, a financial manager, a buyer, a sales person, a personnel manager, a production manager, a design manager and a quality control manager).
There was a shop where they could buy supplies. It was a very expensive shop too.....£2 for 2 googly eyes, £1 for 1 piece of card and £1 for 3 small balls of cotton wool!! The kids were to discuss what supplies they needed to start, the buyer would then approach the shop, the production would make the item, QC would check it and then the sales person would sell it, hopefully for a profit. And so it went on until they had produced all of the above items and sold them.

The kids were amazing and I really enjoyed it too. I was only down to help this morning along with Marion however we both said we would come back this afternoon to help finish it off......well they were building castles this afternoon so we couldn't miss that, could we??

At the end of the session there were awards which were given to the team with the biggest profit and he team which demonstrated good teamwork and performance. The kids have all earned a certificate of achievement and so did we for helping.
If you ever have the chance to do this I would definitely say yes......I personally had a great time making castles.

Emma was on the winning team......they won with a whopping £99 profit. Well done to all of them.
Megan and Emma are away now to Drama Club. It's nearly the panto curtain rise and they will be there until 10pm tonight!!!! Who is going to be a nightmare in the morning???
