Unless someone like you cares a whole awful lot,
Nothing is going to get better. It's not.

I wake with a cricked knee. It was giving me gyp last week too, but today there’s the ache of a pulled muscle to go with it. It’ll need a rest.

So, in place of my exercise routine I indulge in a full breakfast, steam through some paperwork (e-paper, of course), and catch most of Linda’s keynote from the marquee - which is this year carpeted with fake lawn.

At lunchtime I head to the post office to send some training cards to the USA. The price jumps from £9 to £50 for guaranteed delivery. Time, as the saying goes, is money.

The Ratcliffe Terrace BP station is inexplicably roped off with tape, so I walk further down Mayfield to deposit the Virgin Media internet equipment that needs to go back. Collect+ is a weird but wonderful model, utilising wholly inappropriate premises for the accumulation of parcels. I leave my package an the floor, with one other, by the onions.

After conference close, I wander down to Informatics for Anne’s session on service design. It’s the annual branch BCS AGM tonight and it starts late, overruns, and is an excruciating public humiliation.

Eventually it finishes and we discover that Anne’s laptop won’t talk to the projector. She starts anyway, while Roger fiddles with USB sticks and eventually gets the slides on the screen. Anne’s presentation style is animated and engaging, in sharp contrast to the preceding AGM. The session ends with a team activity from her toolbox, utilising the ubiquitous post-its, Sharpies, and quadrant.

I walk Anne to Waverley, grab a curry-to-go from the Mosque kitchen, and head for bed. Mike Sutton and I cross paths on the way. He’s off to the Mosque Kitchen too, to eat, but also to work on his presentation.
