Wren

Today’s picture is of a Wren. It is not a very good picture as it was taken at dusk. The little bird was just about to jump into a shallow container, which we fill with water for them to drink and bathe in.

If you want to be bored by further problems, read on or ignore the rest of this narrative.

The saga of the building work continues with problems fitting the new boiler. The pipe work was completed first and it was not until the new boiler was taken out of the box today that we discovered that it was a “condensing” boiler, not a “combi”. That in itself did not matter, but some of the parts required were not included. That is because you remove one old condensing boiler and replace it with a new one, using some of the same parts. My husband, who always buys a spare of anything he purchases, had some parts in the workshop. That was not the biggest problem; the water cylinder in the corner of the kitchen will still need to stay in the kitchen. That means that the cupboard, which was going to be placed in that corner will have to be adapted. To add insult to injury it seems the water cylinder has a small leak, which my husband and the boiler fitter cannot find! A new water cylinder is required, but they do not make the size that is required to fit in that corner! Tomorrow, while my husband is at Addenbrookes hospital and the boiler fitter continues his work, it is my job to find an indirect hot water cylinder; this might have to be made specially.
