A kid in a candy store!

I didn't take this - Karim did, with my phone.
They very kindly took me back into the Medina at Fez, because I had burbled something about wanting a riq, as well as a bendir. So we went back to the same shop as 2 days ago.
Long story short: I came out with my riq, and yet another bendir, which got tried out with the shop owner. Pic shows him tuning his oud, and me faffing about, while praying he'd play something I could fit one of my few remembered rhythms to.
Fez medina is wonderful! If you look up there are many really old buildings (extra). Its origins are from around the 7th or 8th century, and it boasts having the earliest founded university, said to have been founded by Fatima, the daughter of the Prophet Mohammed.
