Monitor Madness

This is my current monitor set up. It is more to simply test an external monitor connected to my Mac.

Embarrassing story... - I plugged the monitor into my Mac and the screen didn't respond. The monitor knew it was connected to something as when I turned the Mac off it said "No Input" whereas when the Mac was on there was simply a blank screen. I tried various things, restarting, mirroring the displays, setting the same resolution etc and nothing worked. Did some research and it looked like this was a common problem with some MacBook Pros... which started to worry me as this meant i might have to return Milo!
My mum phoned up the apple-care people whilst i was at college today and spent an hour trying to sort it out with the helpful guy on the phone. He couldn't help and told us to go into Reading and get them to look at it.
At this point Mum thought she'd have one last look over all the connections and such and saw the cable into the monitor wasn't plugged in properly... Problem solved!
Now why didn't the MacMan ask if the cable plugged in first?! or why didn't I check to see if it was plugged in the back properly first?!

Sorted now though :)
