The (non)beautiful game

We met up (Me, M and J) to watch Newcastle play the Portuguese side Martimo. The game was dire, turgid, totally lacking energy, skill, excitement, inspiration, or anything good at all really. It made us realise why we gave our season tickets up a few years ago.

How can players be paid so much but be so inept and languid? We scored first but then waited...and waited...until we were lazy enough for them to score back. This was really very uninspirational stuff and the fans deserve so much better.

It was really nice meeting up with friends however - and despite the football misery we did have a bit of a laugh. Newcastle certainly had the best and most colourful boots and the most expensive hair styles.

There was not one yellow card in the whole game, and hardly a foul. This about sums up the total lack of application and effort. We decided that despite our age, we could have gone on the pitch and still done better.

Ba(h) - Who needs football - what has it ever done for us?
