Davaar Island from the Shore Path

11.6C with long sunny spells. Light NW/WNW breeze.

After lunch Fergus and I went for a walk out to the old shipyard and wandered out the shore path to Slaty Farlan. When we got to the first gate along the shore path from the shipyard I was very surprised to see a new 10 foot wide path. Looks like concrete of some sort. Curious to see how far it went, we set off along it. It goes all the way along to the second gate. It changes the whole feel of the walk, at least for the moment, although I appreciate that has become a much more accessible path and no doubt drier. The ground to the sides has been damaged a lot. Bushes, shrubs, and small trees either torn up and dumped or damaged. These things do recover but will the gorse and small trees return or will something else replace them. Only time will tell.

On the Clip while walking:
An episode of BBC radio 3's The Verb podcast with Ian McMillan (poet, author, playwright, and broadcaster).
The Verb at the 'Contains Strong Language' festival in Hull with Jackie Kay (Scotland's Makar), Gruff Rhys, Louise Wallwein, Joe Hakim and work inspired by 'Palgrave's Golden Treasury'.

Podcast of BBC Radio4's Digital Human in which Aleks Krotoski explores the digital world.
New Series, episode 2, Harm. The bystander effect.

Podcast of BBC radio 4's Word of Mouth, with the excellent Michael Rosen in the chair.
Michael Rosen and Dr Laura Wright talked about the Multicultural London English (MLE) dialect with Somali born journalist Ismail Einashe. My conclusion is that so called MLE is just another appearance of Slang, in this case promoted or supported by the Grime music form.
