Away from the dark side

County Durham lies in a pattern of ridges end valleys running east west.  It has recovered from the effects of the industrial revolution, preserved now in viaducts, waggonways and limekilns.  Old railways form the complex of cycleways.  Unfortunately, new depredations are afoot: opencast mining has been imposed, despite the opposition of local government, and what was once Pont Burn is now a ruin, its microbial soil health ruined, and biodiversity destroyed, probably for the next 50 or 100 years.
It was to get away from the horrors of what was Pont Burn that I came  to the Lanchester Way yesterday.
