Just beside the road ...
The cruise ship Marco Polo lies moored at Leith, just round the harbour from the Royal Yacht Britannia. She looks pleasantly ship-like, as opposed to the floating tenements we see on the Clyde but which I think are too big for this port: they land their passengers by tender into Newhaven Harbour. I love the sudden appearance of ships here at Ocean Terminal: you walk round from the shopping mall and there they are, tied up, as it seems, beside the road.
Having been on the odd cruse, I suppose it reminds me a bit of out mooring in St Petersburg, where I could stand on deck and watch the trams. I believe they’re going to bring the trams down to Newhaven after all...
