Club Triumph Round Britain Reliability Run Day 2
Back-blipped.
The morning started pretty much on the Scottish border. After a check-in at the Carter Bar control stop it was time to crack on, first to Edinburgh and then beyond. We always comment about how beautiful the countryside is the further north we go on these events (and the fact we only ever see it at speed!!). We were making great time when, at a fuel stop, the maroon car in our sub-group of three refused to re-start. A few tense moments and a phone call to another car elsewhere on the run diagnosed the fault and we were soon on our way again.
The first proper stop on the event is always breakfast at John O'Groats. A small hotel provides it and they do an amazing job getting a cooked offering out to around 300 hungry Triumph drivers/co-drivers in a couple of hours. We did the mandatory photo stop at the milepost (blipped) and then cracked on. Our planned route was unavailable due to a road closure but the alternative (which we will need to look back at the maps for) was wonderful and we had to stop for a few more photos (see extra).
We spent a good deal of Saturday in Scotland, and going through Glen Coe is always a highlight. Late afternoon we had a control stop at Stirling before hitting the motorways to get back South. You start to get a bit hazy about where you are but somewhere around midnight we were on the England/Wales border and about to begin the drive, top to bottom through Wales.
So far, no breakdowns for our car....
