Rebecca Long-Bailey, the MP for Salford and Eccles, and the Shadow Secretary of State for Business, Energy and Industrial Strategy, visited Lancashire today. After calling on locals and talking to them about their concerns, she came up to the Preston New Road fracking site. She is against fracking and encouraged protestors. She said that nothing good had ever come about, or had been stopped, without the involvement of the community and activism. In this country we expect to have the right to protest.

This week, locals have engaged in a bit of crowd funding and got behind the application for an injunction against the frackers, who don’t appear to be treating public safety as a serious issue.  The don’t think they pose much of a risk, but locals would like information and details about evacuation and safety plans. The application will be heard by the courts next week.
