I have tried to capture this heron for a couple of years with previous attempts resulting in failure as he / she would hang around just long enough for me to get the camera out, change lens, remember to remove the lens cap, turn the camera on and just as I was about to press the button he / she would open his / her wings and swoop majestically upwards laughing as he / she went.

But today he / she took pity and posed on the bridge long enough even for me
