sunshine
In view of the impending wet weather and the current dry weather, we decided to "make the most of it" and take the van for a wee run down to Costa del Caerlaverock, a most delightful part of Dumfries and Galloway.
I kid you not, it was 21 degrees Celsius in D&G today - t-shirt weather in the middle of October...
Although high tide was past, the Nith in Dumfries and at Glencaple was full almost up to the riverbank, which doesn't bode well for a rainy weekend. Today, however, all was calm and peaceful and we met a lot of folk out enjoying the sunshine. Plenty of ladybirds as well, all of the 7 spot variety.
We walked along from Castle Corner to Caerlaverock Castle and then up to Ward Law before returning to the van for a cup of coffee. It felt like a mini-holiday!
On our way home we came across a cyclist who had hit a pothole at the corner of Woodlands and the Irongray Road. He had come off and hit the back of his head, but thankfully was wearing a helmet. His front tyre had punctured but his frame (and the bike's) was intact. We bundled him and his bike into the van and took him back to his house.
