Autumn Fruits in Millmoor Wood
Acorns were dropping down everywhere and these sweet chestnut shells were littering the ground but there was little evidence of any fungi - well apart from two thirds of a Penny Bun that I found lying on the ground under a beech tree near the roadside car parking area. So I photographed it, as you do, and left it there while I walked on but it had gone when I returned. It was quite a substantial chunky specimen that looked very healthy - maybe I missed out on a treat. I never did find the missing third, nor did I see any other fungi.
