Roman pigeon

I read today that the remains of a World War 2 carrier pigeon had been discovered in a chimney somewhere, with a container carrying a coded message still strapped to its leg.

This pigeon seems to want to be associated with an older age, perched on top of a sign pointing out the way to various attractions in the old Roman city of St Albans. The fingerposts stand out against an almost clear blue sky - something of a rarity at the moment and certainly not the kind of sky forecast for tomorrow!
