When i turned the tv on, Prof Cox was in Petra describing the brilliance of the Nabatean water engineers, and the administrative drive that produced the written records found there in 1993.

He finished out in the emptiness of Kazakhstan - or possibly Kyrgystan - with the team pickng up the 3 cosmonauts returning from the space station.

It was all about the human brain, and the path it has taken us from stone tool making to writing to science; agriculture to space travel.
