El Christo returns

During restoration work on the Church of St Elmo in the barrio San Miguel in Jerez, the Christ figure whose home it was had to go elsewhere. Tonight sees his triumphant return borne on the suffering backs of the faithful. It took from 6pm to the wee small hours to go just 2 or 3 kilometres with the cavalcade of Christ, the Virgin Mary, some other random figure, two marching bands and various dignitaries halting every few minutes whilst being serenaded as here by singers from the Pena La Buleria.
