New Project

I liked doing an art journal while I was in Africa so much I’ve decided to begin an at home journal similar to the travel one. I began yesterday with a sketch of Duma. That one I did from a photo. Today’s I did from life.

I drew an antique cast bronze Chinese lantern I have in my living room. It is about eight inches in diameter and sits on a large piece of California jade. My father put a light fixture on the jade he had found on the California coast and made a support for the lantern that was a gift from friends. When lit the lantern throws light patterns on the ceiling. It’s a wonderful piece.

Today both Shelly and I are home sick. I took a long nap in the afternoon. We talked on the phone and that cheered me up.
