From the Woodson Trail

Day 2. Dull and overcast this morning not helped by a breakfast at the hotel that was probably the worst I’ve ever seen for someone like me who is avoiding sugar and fats. Plenty of sugar coated cereals and waffles, Danish pastries and muffins and of course coffee. I made do with pieces of buttered toast, a hard Granny Smith’s and a polystyrene cup of decaf.

Things looks up after that. I made my way to Peets Coffee Shop at Bressi Ranch had a nice coffee and FaceTime’d Susan.

Rolled around to Chris and DeShaun’s around 10.15. Chris and I hiked the Mount Woodson Trail from Poway Lake, a Out and back trip of 7.6 miles and 2,100 feet of ascent to reach the summit at 2,866 feet. A very popular hike with fascinating views of the low, desert like decaying granite hills in this part of California and the intriguing “Potato Chip” rock near the summit.

We enjoyed a couple of refreshing beers back home and after dinner watched NFL Philadelphia Eagles beat New York Giants by a comfortable margin.

That still gave us time to assemble items for Saturday’s birthday party: a water table and a chunky truck for Landon and a cooler for keep the adults drinks at the right temperature.

Looks like I’m on lawn cutting duties tomorrow with a tour of some local craft breweries (of which there are many) in the afternoon.

Today’s blip is from the Woodson Trail with some alarming climbing on Potato Chip Rock
