Taking A Moment

Instead of picking out pallbearers, we prowled the pumpkin patch at Bauman's Farm near Woodburn this afternoon. Like the freeway at rush hour, you wouldn't want to find yourself here on the weekend. On a Thursday, this sprawling place was filled with oldsters and school children both, but weekends you can hardly move, according to my brother-in-law. He took a break on a stack of straw bales, one of many kiddie attractions - you scramble up the stack then slide down inside a giant tube. We didn't try that, but I think we all had a pretty good time distracting ourselves from this long week: me, Gery, and his sister, Kathy.
