Making contact

I'm very proud of myself - I got the contact lenses in after only a small amount of swearing and two destroyed due to clumsiness. They stayed in all evening and I've managed to take them out. Yay! This is no small feat as I was in the opticians for two hours trying to get them in and out, and only managed it for one eye. SO frustrating! On the way to feed Dipsey, I felt I could see the stars properly for the first time in years. The colours were so sharp.

I didn't take the camera to Dipsey's and so I can only share in words the observation of two foxes within arm's distance. They weren't scared of us at all. One even sat down and calmly stared back. It's turned colder again so maybe they're hungry.

I had a lovely surprise when I got into work this morning. There was a package on my desk and, as always, I said 'I hope that's a present', which it usually never is. However, when I opened the Jiffy bag, I discovered that it was a present! My favourite author whom I have worked with for many years now bought me and F a membership to the Wetland Centre. I shall be able to look for water voles all year long! It put a big grin on my face for the rest of the day. I do hope we'll work together again sometime soon when all this nonsense is over with.
