Day out
Although we had planned on resting by the pool, reading and relaxing, having a hire car sit on the road doing nothing seems a waste.
Our visitors guide said there was the opportunity to see lace making in a nearby town, La Jares, about a 10 minute drive away.
Ventured there this morning (also a “handmade items” market on). The only lace being produced was like white work (where you have linen fabric, threads are pulled then sewn affect to provide the pattern). The market was small with unusual items for sale (painted stones then made into a picture for the wall; braided/leather bracelets; recycled jeans made into dresses etc).
From here we went over to El Cortillo, another town on the other side of the island. With my trusty navigator beside me, we tackled some “d” class roads! Drove onto the lighthouse, but unfortunately the cafe was shut. Came back the easy route (wanted to go on the coast road, but in a left hand drive car, narrow roads and poor conditions of roads decided to retrace our steps).
Stopped off at our regular Hypodino supermarket (it has underground parking and parking is often difficult above ground - limited). Stopped for a lunch break and took a trip up the tower (able to view Los lobos and Lanzarote). Noticed the statue of the lady (from when we came last year), always attracts attention.
Tonight there was a lovely crescent moon - attempted a shot (see extras).
Now we have used the car, came feel ok about staying at the villa until hometime (Wednesday) :)
