A trip to Durham via Cambridge
Last night our flight leaving Milan was delayed and so we only left at about 11.30pm, arriving at Heathrow just after 1am (although it was just after midnight London time) and after unpacking and sorting things we finally got to bed at 2.30am. We were subsequently pretty shattered this morning.
After unpacking last night we re-packed this morning, and when Thomas finished school at 1pm we headed north to Durham - with a diversion via Cambridge to take Adam many things that he needed. Being a Saturday afternoon he was playing in a college rugby match so we stayed to watch his match - which they won very convincingly. It was Churchill vs Jesus played at the Jesus rugby grounds and so I managed to get a few photos of Jesus College, as seen here. I have added an extra of Adam in a moment of fierce concentration and also one of Downing College. After the match we went back with him to his house - where Gavin quickly hung a picture on the wall for him - then we left, travelling on to the M11 heading north.
There was no rush to get to Durham today as Luke was going to a 21st in Edinburgh so would not be there tonight. Before he left however, he bumped into David who recognised him from my blips. David is in Durham for a family wedding so it’s a really small world that they met!
We had an easy drive to Durham although we arrived rather late, at about 9.30pm. Tomorrow we are seeing Luke for lunch and we will show Thomas around. Thomas has an organised tour of the engineering department on Monday afternoon and we will be driving back home again after that.
