Flower Friday - Abstract
On Wednesday evening the lecturer at Edinburgh Photographic Society was Niamh Whitty FIPF who specialises flower photography. However, her style is the very opposite of normal flower photography where the aim is to render the image sharp from front to back. She usually has only one small element of her macro image that is sharp and the rest is blurred producing lovely washes of colour. Her flower abstracts were quite wonderful and quite intoxicating. Look her up on Facebook if you want to see some of her work.
On Friday when I was at the Garden Centre having coffee I decided to try out her technique in the plant room. Most of my images ended up rather naturalistic with too much of image in moderate focus but there where one or two where I managed to focus on one element though the overall composition was nowhere near as striking as her images.
