Stairs... to Nowhere

It was unseasonably warm today, something like 23 degrees outside! It was a bit too warm to be wearing winter workwear, and we had one of those days where I couldn't wait for it to be over.

We have one more week until half-term, and I think we're all getting tired and cranky. I know I am ;-)

After school I took a friend with me to go and have a second viewing at the house I looked at on Friday. It's the one I looked at almost two years ago when it was being built.

I really like the house, and could see myself living there, but quite honestly, for a house that's only eighteen months old, they've wrecked it! It's not wrecked, but there's been little care and attention and it really needs some love. They've converted the attic space into a third bedroom, which is really lovely, but they're still plastering and faffing about with the internal doors etc in order to get the planning signed off.

I'm going to offer on Monday, but I already know it'll be rejected, because I'm going to offer around 30K less than it's advertised for. It's on a road where they're building a new development, and people are a bit nervous as to how busy the road will get, plus with the likelihood of a market crash and brexit to contend with, everybody is a bit nervous. I suppose I will be disappointed, as it's a bit over my budget and I probably should never have gone to look in the first place, but I was genuinely curious to see it finished.

But the current owners have already part-exchanged on another house, so they are sitting ducks just waiting to get on and move out. It's not the end of the world, but at least I'll be able to say that I tried and it wasn't meant to be.

If only I had the money from a book deal behind me!
