Scout Scar
Today's the day ………………………… for the lull after the storm
What a difference a day makes.
Yesterday, like a lot of the western side of the British Isles, we were deluged with heavy, heavy rain - and 50 mph winds. Apparently the south-east had a nice, sunny day so you might not have heard much about our stormy conditions! Anyway, eventually it all calmed down and we awoke to a completely different day.
But a walk on Scout Scar this afternoon revealed the extent of the flooding in the Lyth Valley caused by yesterday's rain that just had nowhere to go - at least for a while. I have to say that we found it a wonderful sight - the way it must have been in the past before they started pumping the water out of the valley. But probably it would not have pleased the farmers trying to farm down there.
Ah well - perhaps a lesson or two to learn there ………………………….
