COASTAL MAINE BOTANICAL GARDENS
Breakfast at Sarah's.... apple compote with yogurt and a toasted muffin. Then a long drive to the Botanical Gardens. It's a wonderful place. Full of plants, trees, sculptures, water features, a meditation garden, a fairy House village and a gift shop. We really enjoyed wandering around.
In the Collage the photo of the 4 of us was taken by a man who was passing. Turned out he was from Skipton in Yorkshire but he has lived in Maine for 20 years. (We chatted about football)
The weather today was chilly but it was dry and we had lovely bright sunshine. Perfect for walking round the Gardens.
We looked in the gift shop and I bought two pars of earings
Last evening when Sarah found out I came from Newcastle she mentioned that there was a Newcastle in Maine so today we made a detour to visit it. Not much there..... and nothing like "my" Newcastle. See my extras for one of the buildings and
road sign.
Next we headed for Red's Eats in Wiscasset. Its famous for its Lobster Rolls and has been in business for over 80 years. There was a long queue but it was worth the wait. I have added an extra of some of the food we ordered. 3 of us had lobster rolls and Sarah had fish and chips. We also had scallops to share. There was so much lobster that we took some home to eat tomorrow.
After dropping Sarah back at her home in Freeport we set off on the I back to Massachusetts and arrived around 9pm. What a wonderful day we had.
